Broodstock - SPF Litopenaeus vannamei

We specialize in the production of SPF (Specific Pathogen Free) and SPR (Specific Pathogen Resistant) Litopenaeus vannamei broodstock. Our domesticated families of broodstock have been in existence since the inception of the shrimp aquaculture facilities in 1984. Stock origin is from the SPF / SPR populations of the USDA Marine Shrimp Farming Program at The Oceanic Institute in Hawaii.

Molokai Sea Farms International broodstock facility is located in an isolated area of the sparsely populated Hawaiian island of Molokai. This remote site provides ideal conditions for maintaining disease-free shrimp aquaculture stock.

The State of Hawaii Aquaculture Disease Prevention Program routinely samples our population for WSSV, IHHNV, HPV, TSV, YHV, and other serious pathogens of marine shrimp. Shrimp are tested using state of the art PCR, dot blot gene probe and multi-organ histopathology.

Each broodstock purchase is accompanied by a health status report from the State of Hawaii, certifying disease-free status.

Weight of males range between 40 to 45 grams. Females are 45 to 60 grams. Age of shrimp broodstock is from 12 to 16 months from post-larval stage.

Our shrimp aquaculture shipping specialists have contracted for some of the lowest shipping rates available. They will make all shipping arrangements and prepare necessary documentation for customs. We can arrange shrimp  shipments to even the most remote destinations.
